Children'S ShoesSix Valence Chromium

Recently, netizens "kiss mother 0542" posting said that her baby over one year old had a rash on her face recently. After excluding other possibilities, she doubted that the newly bought toddler shoes were out of order.

"The baby likes this pair of shoes very much, likes to touch with the hand, several times discovered that he sticks the shoe to the mouth."

She was worried about whether there were any poisonous and harmful substances in her shoes that hurt the baby's delicate skin.

In fact, the worry of "mother 0542" is not groundless. The rash is probably due to the fact that the rash is probably due to the fact that the skin rash is probably due to the fact that the rash is indeed due to the fact that the rash is indeed due to the fact that

The "culprit" behind it is likely to be six valence chromium.

Reporters found that in May 29th of this year, Shanghai quality supervision released

Children's shoes

The results of spot checks showed that a product was found to exceed six standard chromium. In the first quarter of 2014, the results showed that 4 products were detected over six.

Why are there six valence chromium in children's shoes? What is the harm of six valent chromium to children's health? According to Zhang Weijuan, engineer of the national footwear quality supervision and Inspection Center (Beijing), chromium plays an important role in tanning leather, making leather soft and elastic, and therefore is an essential tanning agent.

At present, the leather industry is widely used.

Chrome Tanning Agent

It contains trivalent chromium, which is a relatively safe substance.

However, if the quality of raw materials, processing technology and related technologies are not in the same place, trivalent chromium will change to six valence chromium in the process of leather storage and use.

It is reported that six valent chromium is more toxic.

As early as the 30s of last century, epidemiological surveys conducted by scholars in Germany, the United States and Britain showed that people with long-term exposure to six valent chromium compounds had higher probability of stomatitis, gingivitis, septal perforation, skin chromium ulcers, allergic dermatitis and lung cancer than those in the general population.

Studies have shown that human body contact with six valent chromium may cause allergies, produce dermatitis and eczema. Eye contact with six valent chromium may cause retinal hemorrhage and optic atrophy. Inhalation and ingestion of six valent chromium can cause damage to the stomach, liver and kidneys, causing serious carcinogenesis, and more likely to cause genetic defects.

Compared with adults, children and infants are at a developmental stage of physiological, psychological and cognitive development. Under the restriction of behavioral ability and mental level, they are weak in self-protection, and are easily influenced and hurt by external environment and products.

For example, infants are curious, sometimes sucking and touching shoes, so that children's shoes and children's skin, eyes and even oral contact, resulting in the remaining harmful substances on the surface of shoes harmful to the health of infants and young children.

Yang Yuexiang, a staff member of the AQSIQ's product quality and safety risk monitoring center, said that the quality and safety of children's shoes products directly affect children's health, of which six valence chromium is one of the substances of concern. At home and abroad, the awareness of the six valent chromium content in children's shoes products is rapidly improving.

According to the introduction, the excessive six price chromium content of children's shoes has been one of the main reasons for the recall of the EU's rapid warning system for non food consumer goods (RAPEX).

From 2014 to 2015, the European Union RAPEX recalled many cases due to the excessive content of six valent chromium in leather.

Statistics show that during the period from 2014 to January 2015, the EU's official non food consumer quick warning system (RAPEX) issued 22 cases of children (including infants and young children) shoes chemical risk recalls, of which 20 recall was due to six valent chromium exceeding the standard, accounting for 91% of the total number of such calls.

Of these, 7 batches were children's shoes and baby shoes from mainland China, accounting for 1/3 of recall.

According to information from the European Union, the price of six valence chromium in children's leather is 56mg/kg, exceeding the limit value of 18.7 times.

According to the latest regulations issued by the European Union (EU) No301/2014, from May 1, 2015, the six valent chromium content of leather products that come into the EU market and leather products such as skin contact leather products or shoes and clothing must be less than 3mg/kg. Otherwise, they will not be listed. This will be a new challenge for our children's shoes manufacturers.

A few days ago, Hangzhou Xiaoshan inspection and quarantine bureau chief said in an interview with the media that there are many footwear export enterprises in Xiaoshan, but there are widespread problems of small scale, low unit price and low quality.

With the EU further reducing the limit of six valent chromium content, the six valent chromium exceeding the standard has become a "invisible killer" of footwear exports.

The person in charge suggested that the production enterprises should control the source at the same time, strengthen the management of suppliers, do not arbitrarily purchase raw materials from the non qualified suppliers, clarify the quality assurance provisions, carry out six valent chromium test on the chrome powder used in leather making, two, control the production process, and adjust the leather making process, such as the use of plant retanning agents, the use of reductive neutralization agents and retanning agents, the use of antioxidants as fatliquoring AIDS in leather fatliquoring, so as to ensure that there is no excessive six valent chromium in the production process.

In this regard, the China Leather Association responsible person said, in view of the continuous improvement of the quality and safety requirements of children's shoes products, children's shoes manufacturers should start with technological innovation, improve the technology, and actively carry out the study of environment-friendly leather tanning preparations.

Foreign countries have made many useful attempts in related aspects.

For example, the European TILEATHER R & D team, led by the Spanish leather and related industrial technology research institute, has developed a new environment-friendly leather tanning technology and production process using titanium instead of chromium, which has been recognized by the EU environmental standards and the European Union green label (Ecolabel).

In 2014, the Heller leather factory in Germany developed a new generation of environment-friendly leather tanning preparations with olive leaves as raw materials.

The eco leather project, which is being carried out by the China Leather Association, is also committed to improving the awareness of environmental protection in the whole industry, highlighting the limited provisions for the six valent chromium, banned azo dyes, pentachlorophenol and formaldehyde in leather.
