Northern Europe; Textile

Dan news agency reported on May 24 that higher and higher requirements for product design, stricter requirements for chemicals, more and more attention to quality and life, and prohibition of burning unsold textiles are part of the new requirements of Nordic eco label for textiles. Clothing and textiles are the EU's fourth largest consumer sector that destroys the environment and climate. Therefore, there is an urgent need to reduce the impact on the environment and climate and move towards a more circular economy, that is, the long-term use of textiles and the recycling of materials. One of the tightening requirements of the Nordic eco label is product design. In order to ensure that textiles are designed to be recyclable so that they can become part of a circular economy, Nordic eco labels impose strict requirements on unwanted chemicals and ban plastic and metal parts only for decorative purposes. Another new requirement for Nordic eco label textiles is that manufacturers will have to measure in the future how much microplastics will be released when washing synthetic textiles.
