Anta: Promise To Achieve Carbon Neutrality By 2050
Recently, Anta Group released the 2021 ESG environmental, social and governance report, announcing that it will promote the "1 + 3 + 5" environmental symbiosis goal in the future, among which the most important overall goal is to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.
Carbon neutralization is an unavoidable key word in the clothing industry. It refers to the total amount of carbon dioxide or greenhouse gas emissions directly or indirectly generated by enterprises in a certain period of time. Through afforestation, energy conservation and emission reduction, the carbon dioxide or greenhouse gas emissions generated by itself can be offset, and the positive and negative offsets can be realized to achieve relative "zero emission".
As the second largest pollution industry after the petrochemical industry, the fashion industry has been under scrutiny and criticism in environmental protection, forcing clothing brands to actively engage in green production, and carbon neutral is the only way. Leisure shoes brand allbirds attracts consumers and investors because of its "atypical" sustainable production characteristics; Dozens of clothing brands in the domestic market have also announced carbon neutral acceleration plans to help sustainable development.
As for the "3 + 5" mentioned in the report, it is also closely related to sustainable development, i.e. three "zeros": zero landfill of self owned production waste, zero use of raw plastics and zero carbon emission of self owned operating facilities by 2030, so as to minimize the impact of operation on the environment; Five "50%": increase the proportion of sustainable products to 50% by 2030; 50% of energy consumption of strategic partners is replaced by renewable energy; 50% of products use sustainable packaging; 50% of energy consumption of self owned transportation equipment is replaced by clean energy; 50% sustainable raw materials are used in products.
It is understood that this has been Anta Group's seven consecutive years of disclosure of ESG and sustainable development practices and achievements. Anta, as one of the consumers, makes positive contribution to the environment and social development.
Under the "double carbon" goal, Anta has formulated a development strategy for the next 10 years. It will persist in creating value for consumers, work hand in hand with upstream and downstream partners and all employees, shoulder the responsibility for society and environment, and push forward the goal of sustainable development.
From the perspective of brand development and industry change, environmental protection in fashion has a long way to go. From luxury brands, sports brands to fast fashion brands, we should face the sustainable development problems behind garment manufacturing, and take measures to solve them. Fortunately, environmental protection and sustainability has become the consensus of the clothing industry, and the head brands are also playing a leading role. Brands including Nike, Anta, allbirds and on onrun attract more brand enterprises to participate in the process through the adoption of environmental protection materials, the introduction of environmental protection equipment and the promotion of sustainable concept, so as to jointly move towards the future of sustainable development.
In addition to environmental protection, Anta has also gained in terms of society and governance. In 2021, Anta established the Commission on sustainable development and became a member of the UN Global Compact, supporting the ten principles of the UN Global Compact. In the past 10 years, Anta has invested 3 billion yuan in R & D, and has a team of over 200 international design and R & D experts from 18 countries and regions. In terms of public welfare, Anta Group has actively participated in social public welfare undertakings and donated more than 330 million yuan in 2021.
