Before the founding of the people's Republic of China, the Chinese people lived a very poor life, one of the biggest characteristics was lack of clothing and less quilt. In 1949, China's cotton spinning production capacity only accounted for about 5% of the world, and the annual fiber consumption per capita accounted for only about one third of the world average. After the founding of the people's Republic of China, the Communist Party of China has always regarded development as the first priority of ruling and rejuvenating the country, leading the Chinese people to start the great cause of building socialism. After 72 years of arduous construction as masters, the vast number of cadres and workers in the textile industry front finally regained its glory and ranked among the world's textile powers on the occasion of the party's centenary birthday. I personally feel from the practice of textile industry development that no matter what kind of complex external environment our party encounters and what difficulties and twists and turns our party has experienced, the theme of development is always the direct embodiment of the flesh and blood ties between our party and the people.

The Third Plenary Session of the Eleventh Central Committee of the Communist Party of China shifted the focus of the party's work to economic construction as the center. From then on, new China embarked on the road of socialism with Chinese characteristics. In his speech on the South tour, Deng Xiaoping highly summarized the theory of development in the primary stage of socialism in China as "development is the hard truth". From then on, this incisive conclusion has become a key to understand the essential characteristics of socialism. It is under the guidance of this development theory that the textile industry plays an important role in the three-step strategy of socialist modernization construction with its important position of "important livelihood industry, pillar industry of national economy and international competitive advantage industry".

The first strategy in the 1980s was to solve the problem of food and clothing for the people. Taking cotton cloth as an example, from 1979 to 1983, the production increment in these four years had reached 2.8 times of that in the ten years of the "Cultural Revolution". At the end of 1983, the State Council announced the abolition of the ticket distribution system and the full liberalization of the textile market, taking the lead in achieving the first strategic goal.

The second strategy in the 1990s was to make the people live a well-off life. Under the guidance of Deng Xiaoping's talk in the south, the Fourteenth National Congress of the Communist Party of China established the target mode of economic reform to establish a socialist market economic system. With the rapid development of economic system reform and structural adjustment, the strategic adjustment of textile state-owned economy has made a major breakthrough, and the non-state-owned economy has developed rapidly. Finally, it has been built into a world textile power by the end of the 20th century. The total fiber processing accounted for 1 / 4 of the world, and the export accounted for 14.7% of the world; Compared with 1990, the per capita annual clothing expenditure of urban and rural areas increased by 7.48 times in 2000; The trade surplus of textile industry is 1.58 times of that of the whole country.

In the first 20 years of the 21st century, as the key stage of the third step strategy, the goal of building a well-off society in an all-round way has been determined. In the period of the Tenth Five Year Plan and the Eleventh Five Year Plan period, the "scientific outlook on development" established by the 16th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, as an important sublimation of "development is the absolute principle", promotes the textile industry to seize the good opportunity of joining the WTO, and focuses on a series of basic work related to the transformation of textile industry from big to strong In the late period of the 11th five year plan, we formulated the outline of building a strong textile country (2011-2020) with the goal of building a powerful country in textile science and technology, textile brand, textile sustainable development and textile talents. During the period of the 12th Five Year Plan and the 13th Five Year Plan period, under the guidance of the "new development concept" established by the 18th National Congress of the CPC and Xi Jinping's thought of socialism with Chinese characteristics for a new era established at the 19th National Congress of the CPC, we should promote the textile industry on the track of high-quality growth. The textile industry has grasped the new scientific and technological revolution and new industrial transformation opportunities, withstood the impact of the world economic downturn, Sino US trade friction, the new crown pneumonia epidemic situation and its own economic downward pressure. At the major historical node of building a moderately prosperous society in an all-round way and meeting the Centennial Anniversary of the founding of the party, the textile industry has basically realized the major goals of building a textile power.

In 2020, the total fiber processing volume of China's textile industry will account for more than 50% of the world, and the export will account for 1 / 3 of the world, which will always be the industry with the largest foreign trade surplus in China. The domestic fiber consumption per capita has reached the level of the moderately developed countries in the world. In the past, China's textile industry, which was once mistakenly regarded as "sunset industry", is now among the world's peers in terms of scale, industry category, industrial chain system, industrial science and technology in the forefront of the world. Its domestic brand has been widely recognized by both domestic and international markets, and its sustainable development has made great progress. It has a strong team of 20 million employees, Whether it is the front-line workers armed with craftsman spirit, or scientists, academicians, professors and scholars, engineering and technical personnel, each level can be called the world's largest textile industry. According to the comprehensive investigation of China's manufacturing industry by the academician team of the Chinese Academy of Engineering in 2019, the textile industry ranks first among the five industries (textile, household appliances, building materials, steel and high-speed rail) that are listed in the first array of the world's manufacturing industry.

However, standing at the historical intersection point of the "two centenary" goals, we are soberly aware that although we are in the forefront of the world compared with the same industry, we still have an obvious problem of unbalanced and inadequate development from the perspective of the new technological revolution and the new industrial revolution. The digitization and intellectualization of the whole industry are still a small part, and the task in the future is still very heavy. Under the trend of unprecedented changes in the world in a century, it is still a long way to go to realize the modernization of the whole industry. During the period from the 14th five year plan to 2035, under the guidance of the party's leadership and Xi Jinping's thought of socialism with Chinese characteristics for a new era, we should conscientiously implement the new development concept, continue to push the textile industry to a higher stage of development and create better performance, Meet the second centenary goal and make greater contributions to the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation!
