Consumers love sports and outdoor sports, which is an excellent phenomenon for sports shoes and outdoor shoes brands.

The total sales of sports shoes and outdoor shoes amounted to US $3 billion in the 14 week ended September 20, 2014, up 5% from 2013, according to NPD consulting.

Especially in the first 3 weeks (from September 1st to September 27th) after the start of the school season, the total sales of sports shoes increased by 9% over the same period last year.

Among them, basketball shoes accounted for nearly 1/4 of sales, the biggest increase last year, an increase of 48%.

Marshall Cohen, the chief industry analyst, says retailers should really know what is a typical example of what "consumers need to buy," from the newly ended return season shoe sales climax.

He added: "basketball shoes sales are absolutely a reflection of changes in consumer demand, indicating that the shoe culture has evolved over the past few years."

The rapid growth of shoe sales has laid a positive tone for autumn consumption.

As the weather gets colder, the demand for winter shoes is expected to rise in view of the record low temperatures recorded last winter.

From Labor Day (September 1st) to the first day of autumn (September 23rd), NPD group found that sales of winter shoes and snow boots increased by 24% to $1 million 100 thousand, up from 870 thousand US dollars in the same period last year.

In the same period, sales of rain boots were $3 million 100 thousand, up from $2 million 500 thousand in the same period last year.

Sales of outdoor boots increased by 18% to $8 million 300 thousand.

"The jump growth of outdoor shoes sales is closely related to the change of consumer demand. The outdoor shoes that consumers want to buy is not only suitable for mountaineering or snowy days, but also reflects the leisure style of outdoor sports in function."

He added: "designers are fully aware of the needs of consumers when designing shoes. The shoes in season are not only fashionable, but also suitable for outdoor and work wear."
