Sales of US retailers are dismal this year, and American retailers' inventory pressures are bigger than ever.

At present, retailers are facing difficulties in overstock, so they have to sell products at a discount.

A report from the US Department of labor released the consumer price index in October. The report said that with the strong appreciation of the US dollar, the import price dropped, which led to an import surplus in October, and October.

Prices are falling.

After the seasonal adjustment of the previous menstrual period, the overall clothing fell by 0.8%. The decline in clothing prices was the second decline since the price rise in August.

Moody "s Analytics real time economist Ryan Sweet said," the market is testing the pricing power of retailers.

In the next few months, inventory may be faced with a buildup problem, even though it is approaching the holiday promotion season.

I predict that retailers will find their inventory surplus later, which will further weaken their pricing power.

He pointed out that the US dollar's strong selling of imports also led to the dismal sales of US retailers, and US retailers' inventory pressure this year was bigger than ever.

In October of this year,

Women's clothing prices

Down 0.4%, girls' clothing prices fell 2.9%, men's clothing prices fell 2.1% while boys' clothing prices increased by 2.9%.

For women's wear, the price of the dress dropped by 3.6%, underwear, pajamas,

Sportswear

And accessories prices fell by 1.3%.

But the price of the suit rose by 1.1% and the price of the coat increased by 0.8%.

For men's wear, the price of men's trousers decreased by 2.6%, the price of shirts and sweaters decreased by 2.5%, and the price of jacket clothing increased by 0.1%.

Chris G. Christopher Jr., director of consumer economics at IHS Global Insight, an economic and financial analysis agency, said there was a rise in clothing prices in June this year, mainly due to the increase in energy costs.

But retailers are facing difficulties in overstock, so they have to sell products at a discount.

Christopher added: "the overstock of clothing retailing is mainly due to the rise of fast fashion, consumers have more choices, and can buy fashionable clothes at a lower price.

Besides, climate is also one of the reasons that affect clothing sales. Due to the long hot weather, clothing sales in autumn and winter are not good enough, resulting in a decline in clothing prices in October.

Another factor is the continued strength of the US dollar, which reduces the price of imported clothing.

Christopher also pointed out that retailers are not realistic in ordering according to market demand. The third quarter's large inventory will lead to a larger discount in holiday promotion season, which will also reduce profit margins. This unplanned sales mode is unhealthy.
